The Bible contains stories, visions, symbols, and words that have endured through the centuries. Gilles Rossel gives them visual form through paintings, illustrations, videos, and installations.
His work does not simply seek to represent texts. He proposes to tell their stories, explain them, and make them accessible through images.

Genesis: Painting Creation
Through a series of paintings and videos, Gilles Rossel recounts the days of Creation, light, the sky, the earth, animals, man and woman. Each work is accompanied by the biblical passage that inspired it and an explanation that allows for a deeper understanding of its meaning.

After studying numerous accounts of near-death experiences, Gilles Rossel outlined the main stages described by their witnesses and compared them with various biblical texts.
This series deals in particular with out-of-body experiences, the tunnel, light, life reviews, reunions, and the boundary between life and death.

Oil, acrylic, alkyd, gouache, ink and mixed media are used to create original works inspired by biblical texts, light, the sky and the imagination.
Videos and animations
The videos allow Gilles Rossel to present his paintings, explain the texts that inspired them, and answer various questions about the Bible and the Christian faith. He has notably produced a series on Genesis as well as numerous short videos on parables and questions of faith.

A work focused on light and hope
Not all of Gilles Rossel's works directly depict a biblical story. Some series explore more freely light, sky, shapes, colors, gardens, hands, hearts, and human relationships.
